Before making you read long introduction, let’s look at two quotes - one by Dale Carnegie and the other a sutra by Sage Patanjali. 
"It's the way we react to circumstances that determines our feelings" - Dale Carengie 
“Maitri karuna muditopeksanam sukha duhkha punyapunya visayanam bhavanatah citta prasadanam” – Patanjali’s sutra - 1.33 says 
English translation – “Repeatedly infusing the mind with friendliness, compassion, cheerfulness, and detached involvement in relation to those living a happy, miserable, virtuous, and non-virtuous life respectively, results in maintaining a pristine and tranquil state of mind”. 
Dale Carnegie’s quote is a general prescription that it is our reactions to circumstances that determine our feelings/state of mind. Patanjali’s sutra prescribes specific responses to particular types of persons leading to calm, peaceful and happy state of mind.
 
Philosophers, Mystics, Saints, and Wise people have down the ages advised ways and means of remaining ever happy in life. We all, as human beings, have our problems - for a kid, it might be social media FOMO culture but for his elders, it might be surviving at the job or could be relationship or finance. All of us have stuck-up issues and honestly, at that point in time, we feel like in quicksand, the more we try to get out, the deeper we sink in. 
 
Then what do you need to do? How to clear the cloudy and gloomy mind, unlearn and relearn? What is actually at stake is not only aiming at happiness but positive happiness by achieving excellence in life.
