Y-Break at work! The Ministry of AYUSH has introduced this short-duration Yoga protocol to help employees de-stress, refresh, and refocus during their workday. The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of AYUSH has added new features to support busy officials who cannot leave their offices to practice yoga.

Sedentary Behavior and Long-Term Health Effects

How did we get to the point where the government needs to mandate yoga breaks during office hours? It’s simple – physical inactivity is killing us. The World Health Organization warns that a sedentary lifestyle could rank among the top 10 causes of death and disability worldwide, with approximately 2 million deaths per year attributed to this issue.

Shockingly, the World Health Organization reports that 60 to 85% of people across the globe lead sedentary lifestyles. This alarming statistic highlights the importance of addressing this public health problem to ensure a healthier future for all.

Sedentary behavior can be defined as any activity where an individual is sitting, reclining, or lying down and expending very little energy.
