The Cancer Fighting Indian Kitchen
Seeing a loved one battle cancer can indeed be an eye-opening and emotionally intense experience. Every little bit of support can make a world of difference to someone fighting cancer. In our upcoming Instagram LIVE we have our guest Rita Date, an inspirational mother who was her son's primary caregiver during his cancer battle and eventual survivor. During this conversation she will take us through how nutrition and creating a balanced diet using traditional Indian foods can help us in mitigating the negative effects of the chemo therapies.

When she began volunteering at a cancer center, giving nutrition consultations, she realized there was no information for patients on what to eat during their treatment and beyond. This realization led her and Dr. Seema Sonis to write "Fighting Cancer with the Thali,." In the book, she makes it clear that while cancer is treated with medications prescribed by oncologists, nutrition plays a crucial role in mitigating the negative effects of these toxic therapies.
Rita Date has authored two books, What's for Lunch and Fighting Cancer with the Thali. Her first book, What's for Lunch, was an extension to her blog series, www.realfoodindia.com, where she had been publishing truths about fast food and processed foods that most media sources would not print.
