Humans are considered to be the best creation of almighty because he has the capability to think, feel, imagine and evolve. But while the process of evolving we became unintentionally self- involved that we left behind our true selves. Many of us can feel the urge to unleash our spirits and lead our way towards what we believe in rather than what we live in today. Few people I believe can manage to break the shackles of ennui and find the real meaning of their existence.
In the serene ambience of mighty mountains and a scenic beauty of Himachal, echoes the sound of hearty laughter and bubbling children from a small classroom of Manali where kids are following their yoga teacher, Sadhana performing each step with complete involvement and deep connect with teacher. The sight takes us back to our school days where we use to be enthralled while doing such exercises which rejuvenate our minds and teach us valuable lessons of life which no other theory class can ever do. Such effect is created by people like Sadhana, who believes in love for all creatures of and children are close to her heart whom she teaches yoga with utmost zeal and grace. She is like a sage who imparts her knowledge and wisdom to whosoever she comes across with. This vision provides her the impetus to reach out to small children and enable them to imbibe and inculcate the life skills through yoga facilitating strong mental, physical and spiritual foundation. Currently Sadhana resides in a village near Manali where she imparts training in yoga and trekking events.
Hellomyyoga had the privilege to explore this humble soul through a short conversation, which we would like to share with all yogis and people who are yet to come out of the world of self-denial.
hmy : When did you first come across Yoga? And where did you practice earlier?
Sadhana : It was year 2015 when after couple of my solo travels to mountains I couldn’t go back to my desk job and packed my bags to not return until I find my inner calling, purpose of this life(that time I called it reason of my existence, which now I feel is lifelong journey) and No, I never practiced yoga before although every time hearing the word “Yoga” kindled an unknown spark within me. But I wouldn’t know until I get on the mat.
hmy : What was the turning point where you decided to quit your job and take path of Yoga?
Sadhana : The Turning point was the change of perception that solo travels brought to me. I felt immense joy in just exchanging smiles with strangers which no shopping, material things and relationships could bring. As if suddenly I can see the world with a new pair of eyes, it was overwhelming. And Vipassana as first thing in this new journey brought up a lot of my deep rooted fears, emotions and patterns which were unknown to me and then Yoga came in my life as a healing balm to soften those aching wounds of my soul.
hmy : What connects you with children?
Sadhana : It’s their unconditioned, unrestricted, receptive heart and mind that allows me to reflect myself with no restrictions and judgements, Kids are like spotless mirrors. And there’s no greater luxury than letting your inner child out. We are at our truest when we find that expression.
hmy : What generated your interest in trekking?
Sadhana : Initially it was to discover unknown places which are not polluted by humans. And later after I moved to mountains i developed a deep connection and relation with Mother Earth. Walking barefoot in the forest is one of the best medicine you could ever give yourself.
hmy : What transformation have you felt after dedicating yourself to Yoga?
Sadhana : It is a new life for me, from my name to I am as a person now. It helped me release a lot of baggage that I’d been carrying which effected my mental and physical state to the verge of breakdown. With yoga a hope filled in me to change my life and empowered me to take out everything from my life that was not serving my soul , simultaneously working with things and people who resonated with me. It helped me consciously create the life I want for myself.
hmy : What is yoga in your view?
Sadhana : It’s an art and science of Life. Rather than approaching the mind and the body as separate from each other Yoga practice treat them as one.
It provides us with helpful tools and methods to create an atmosphere in the mind that benefits the body and inturn helps us to recognise our unique potential to contribute to the well being of ourselves and others.
hmy : What learning you pass on to others mentees , children and yoga practitioners?
Sadhana : Give this body and mind the right nourishment it needs. As a yoga student the most important lesson for me has been acceptance and trust. Acceptance of this body, mind and all of life that bring across us and welcoming everything with the trust in the heart.
hmy : Would you like to give a valuable thought to enlighten yoga practitioners and seekers?
Sadhana : It’s not the destination but the journey that matters. Trust yourself each day, everyday and make time for that one thing that brings you closer to yourself. We are the ones we have been waiting for.
